Daigo Umehara has had an illustrious career as a professional gamer. Over the course of his 20-year history, he’s played many different games competitively and amassed multiple world championship titles in Street Fighter II Turbo (1996), Street Fighter Alpha 3 (1998), Street Fighter II: Third Strike (200) and Super Smash Bros. Melee (2010).

In this blog post, we will take a look at how Daigo overcame obstacles to keep winning! One of the most important challenges in Daigo’s career was overcoming his severe hand injury. This injury caused him to withdraw from tournaments and he says it took at least six months before he could play without a problem.

He believes that through this experience, “I learned an extremely valuable lesson: there is always something I can do.” It taught him not to give up easily on himself or others, but instead find ways for them to keep winning no matter what!
